Racing in 2009
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello Racers !!!!!!!
We are looking forward to a great weekend of racing for our 1st event of the 2009
season. There has been a lot of changes happen over the past winter. Our new promoter
group, GLMX is going great. We have created (2) new series for 2 wheel motorcycles
and (2) new series for Quads. We think this will give all you racers a chance
to have more fun during the season. This might give anyone suffering an injury
or bike problems a chance to still have a good season and not just having to wait
until next year to start over. We are doing our best to make things new and exciting.
If you go to our website and click on to the GLMX logo on our home page it will
take you to the GLMX website where you can get all the info on the new things
our group is doing. None of the GLMX promoters will be putting articles in the
Dist. 14 news anymore. This was District 14's decision not ours. Dutch is advertising
in Cycle USA and we will be submitting articles to them also. We will have our
race coverage posted on the GLMX website. We also will have trackside photos posted
on the GLMX photo page. With all new adventures there will be things we are changing
and making better as time goes on.
I know there are lots of questions on things we are doing differently. Please
feel free to e-mail us with any questions you may have. We will do our best to
get you the correct answer as soon as possible.
We are starting off the season with a NMA qualifier also included in our regular
race day program. You will need to sign up for the NMA qualifier with Bruce Blake
he will be parked by the tunnel. Rock River Powersports will be hand with their
Yamaha support truck to help out all Yamaha mounted riders.
We should have our Kiosk machine up and running too. We will have it set up on
the transponder deck for now.
We have a new Smurf City referee and Head scorer for 2009. Phil Velie and his
daughter have been doing a great job back there for the last 5 years but Phil's
son Nick now is doing great on the big track so we decided to move Phil to the
big track to work. This will give him more time to take care of Nick's race needs.
Thanks to all the Velie's for their hard work on the auto track. Our new referee
is Ed Martin and his wife Paula, is going to be the head scorer. Ed and Paula
worked the last few races last year getting to know the ropes and we welcome them
aboard. Ed and Paula are members of our family and Ed has been around motorcycle
racing for most of his life.
We are thinking we want to make a few changes with the Wobbler classes in the
GLMX group. We may not have everything set by the 1st weekend but to keep things
more fair we want to develop a system of points that will keep riders moving out
of those classes as they develop their riding skills. In the past it has been
always left up to the referee to decide when a rider must leave and sometimes
it has been hard to decide the proper time. The ref will still need to decide
if a rider falls into the Wobbler category or not but after that the points system
might keep thing fairer. We really want to see the Wobbler class be for real wobblers.
We are still going to have the Smurf City track extended. We will not have it
ready for the weekend but we are working on it. Look for us to make more changes
on the old part also to make it more fun for the riders.
We hope to see you this weekend.
TraXide Outreach
-~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rich Troyer will be on hand this weekend with his traxide outreach trailer. He
will also have a prayer service this weekend too. Time will be announced. Pleae
read the following that he is working on.Food Drive Campaign
Local southern Michigan motocross tracks are committed to help the Southwest Gleaners
Food Bank located in St. Joseph, Michigan. In an economy that has been riddled
with unemployment, food banks are being stretched beyond their means in many ways.
Demand certainly has been greater than the supply. Southwest Gleaners branch manager
Rich Glista says, "An estimated one in ten west Michigan residents will need
food assistance this year. Thanks to your efforts, many of these needy individuals
are indeed being helped."
TraXide Outreach, Inc. and three local motocross tracks in southern Michigan are
asking families who come to the motocross tracks to team up, together making an
impact in the communities of southwest Michigan. Families are encouraged to bring
along non-perishable food items or monetary contributions when they come racing
at Red Bud MX, Dutch Sport Park, and Log Road MX.
Your donations will help the "Will Race For Food" food drive campaign
to be a huge success in showing compassion for others. It will be a wonderful
blessing to all of the families who are facing difficult times, lending a hand
when they are down.
You can look for the orange shopping carts whenever you see the TraXide Outreach
mobile community trailer or drop food items off at the participating tracks when
you race there.
For questions about making contributions you can contact Rich Troyer at rich@traxideoutreach.com
or go to the website at www.traxideoutreach.com
